Hyundai bags design award
Geel, BelgiumThe Hyundai 9 Series forklift has won the Honourable Mention (bronze prize) for the Red Dot: Product Design Award for 2012.
SG Rhee, CEO of Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe, says: "The award is a recognition of what our customers in fact already knew; that Hyundai forklifts have the quality and design that make our products enjoyable as well as useful and reliable."
The forklifts replace the BT-7 Series launched in 2007. One of the major improvements in the new series is the addition of fingertip-controlled mini-levers. The trucks are available in the US and Europe.
Open day showcases award-winning system
Manchester, United KingdomRediGroup has presented its full range of turnkey and stand-alone handling and storage solutions at the latest open day of the Warehouse Technology Group (WTG).
Kathy Ayre of RediGroup says the company was impressed by the quantity and quality of visitors to the event. "People clearly came to the WTG to do business."
Among RediGroup's solutions on display were the award-winning automated pallet storage and retrieval system, RediLogX, offered by RediGroup's RediTechnix division.
The event was held in Manchester at WTG's Logistics Research and Innovation Centre.
WTG is a collaboration of around 20 companies involved in the manufacture and supply of specialist equipment to the warehousing and logistics industry. Besides RediGroup, WTG partners include ASG Services, Chess, Knapp, Union Industries and Interroll.
The next WTG open day event is planned for May 2014.
Soosung's Q3 earnings jump
Incheon, South KoreaSouth Korean forklift maker Soosung says its net profit reached KRW651 million (USD616,000) in the third quarter, 85.4% higher an a year ago. Its total revenue was 39% higher at KRW9.9 billion (USD74.8 million).
Maeil Business Newspaper reported that demand for motor-driven forklifts had been increasing while sales of engine forklifts "remain in the doldrums".
The company attributes the popularity of its compact ICE forklifts to its affordability and environmental friendliness.
