Komatsu awarded bronze
Tokyo, JapanKomatsu was selected as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Indexes (DJSI) and awarded the bronze class this year.
For DJSI selection, companies' economic performance, environmental conservation efforts and social activities are evaluated. In 2011, a total of 2,500 companies worldwide were surveyed, from which 409 companies, including 33 Japanese companies, were selected. DJSI leaders are classified into gold, silver and bronze classes.
DJSI, developed by Dow Jones in the US and Sustainability Asset Management Group, a Swiss research company, is a corporate social responsibility index.
Heli sales expand
Hefei, ChinaOne of China's leading forklift manufacturers, Anhui Forklift Group, produced over 40,000 forklifts in the first six months of 2011.
Anhui Daily reported that the company, which makes Heli forklifts, also recorded sales revenue growth of 42.2% compared to the same period last year.
Separately, Heli subsidiary Baoji held a groundbreaking ceremony at its Weibin factory recently that was attended by over 100 people.
The factory's expansion will enhance Baoji's production capacity.
