Australian book retailer Booktopia has deployed a fleet of Locus Robotics’ automated mobile robots (AMRs) in its new fulfillment centre in the Sydney suburb of South Strathfield.
Locus Robotics says Booktopia is one of the first companies in Australia to install its AMRs.
Booktopia current have 124 AMRs in operation, working alongside 90 human workers at the fulfilment centre.
“The AMRs have improved product flow and enable the team at the customer fulfilment centre to pack books faster and more accurately, driving greater efficiencies and helping to expedite orders at scale,” says Booktopia chief executive officer David Nenke.
“Thanks to technology like this, we have been able to deliver an even better service for our customers including through the busy festive retail period at the end of 2023.
“It all forms part of Booktopia's commitment to providing a better book buying experience for customers.”
Locus Robotics chief executive officer Rick Faulk says Booktopia has a forward-looking view of robotics and automation technology.
“Booktopia is uniquely positioned to optimise its fulfilment processes and seamlessly scale for growth using our powerful AMR solution,” Faulk says.
“We are thrilled to partner with a leader in Australian e-commerce as they push boundaries through fulfilment automation."
