In a first for Australia and New Zealand, Australian Flameproof Services Pty Ltd have brought internationally certified flameproof solutions to the materials handling industry.

A.F.S. have recently been appointed the exclusive Australian importer of the Miretti range of flameproof solutions and exhaust emission controls. This has seen A.F.S. become the only company in Australia capable of providing locally compliant flameproof systems or, when required, "off the shelf" full internationally certified flameproof conversions. This process is obviously much more involved, however inherently safer, as we then must ensure that each individual component, including engine and exhaust system in the case of a diesel forklift, must be fully certified. The whole installation must then be tested and certified by a recognised testing laboratory.

Miretti are a world leader in the field of flameproof conversions and exhaust purification systems. Established in 1973, Miretti have grown to become one of the largest companies in the world specialising in converting materials handling, mining and construction equipment and stand-alone diesel engines for use in hazardous areas.

As more and more companies become aware of the dangers of mobile equipment being used within hazardous and potentially hazardous areas, the call for the latest European Standards to be adopted as reference points for the flameproofing of equipment - in place of the outdated and antiquated Australian Standards - becomes more prevalent each day. The current Australian Standards pertaining to mobile equipment being used within hazardous areas have not been updated to account for the advances in forklift technology and this can, in some cases, see some conversions not taking into account certain forklift componentry as being possible sources of ignition. We at AFS have taken the steps to adopt certain aspects of International Standards, along with the Australian Standards, as references for our conversions. This practice sees our conversions take every detail and component into account, ensuring no part of the forklift can become a potential source of ignition.

The AFS and Miretti flameproof conversions make as little impact on the original ergonomics, function and general maintenance of the equipment as possible and, therefore, our converted equipment performs and looks virtually identical to the original manufacturers' design.
