Discussion:
Yale GLP25VX speed reduction

I need to reduce the speed on my yale. it has transmission fitted which would normally allow speed reduction but on this truck it doesn't have speed setting in the menu. Would i be able to reduce the speed with Yale PC service tool and the correct lead?

a new cdf File needs loaded into the vsm that includes the speed limiter option. seems to come as standard with most new trucks. your dealer can sort this for you and of course there is a cost from Nacco to rewrite the software version for your truck

when you enter the service operator menu system and go into the 'set travel and braking' menu if you do not see an option for setting the 'speed limit' then as you were told it was not installed 'as an option' when the truck was built.
If you want it to work you will have to pay to have the software updated to include this option.

If yale holds true to thier past methods it will require your service tech to call into the yale engineering dept and tell them what is to be done, the engineer will then give a code to enable that option or supply the tech with the correct module to load onto the VCM. It's most likely a software or firmware upgrade.

not every VX truck has the transmission that can be set for speeds. usually if the option does not show up, you may have the less expensive transmission option. are you sure this is the high dollar transmission? there should be a sticker about right side knee level on the 'kick panel/lower dash" that would say what trans is on this truck.

Leon, I can't ever remember coming across a vx that did not have this option, I think you will need a tech to download this option for you and it will probably cost.

Hello Titus, The setting is missing and they want silly money to add the option to the menu. Its just a big conn. All other settings are visable and can be changed. I wasn't sure if more option would be visable using PC tool.

Leon, you should be able to set the speed through accessing the VSM in the normal way through the dash, you could do it with the PC tool but I don't think its nesarssary, unfortunately I'm out of. The country and don't have access to my notes, maybe swoop will jump in and help you with this one. I if you can access calibrations you will find the settings there.
