Discussion:
Wont turn Off

We just bought this Toyota Forklift 42-6FGCU20 and when we start it up the key switch will not turn it off. We have to pull a fuse out from under the seat before it will switch if off. One dealer said the ignition was put in upside down but cant find or figure out how to take it out and turn it over. Apparantly it was replaced because the key for the ignition says hyster on in. Does anybody else have any ideas of what might be going on or how to flip the ignition switch over. We cant find a manual or parts diagram anywhere online if anybody has one it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help

Thank you for your reply. Yes apparently somebody switched it out and either used a hyster switch or a generic one. The hysters from what I can tell swap and are a perfect hook up. I believe it just plugs in but havent really looked at it see how to get into it. I thought it was just a couple of screws to get the plastic off to get into it but apparently it is a little more involved and hoped somebody knew exactly how to do it. Searched online and have had no luck so far. Thanks again for your reply

Sounds like someone has wired in a generic key switch instead of replacing with OEM or OEM style as it should have either a 3 or 4 terminal plug in style switch. I am guessing based on you saying that it had a Hyster key that it is generic and the wires either have terminals that either push on or you put the wires under a screw to attach them.
