Discussion:
Very strong raw propane smell from exhaust

Hi
Just picked this unit up from a friend. It was occasionally used as a backup over the last few years. 1996 with a 4y engine. Starts and runs nice. No smoke. 22,000 hours. But it stinks! Almost like it is running cold. Rich propane smell. I know it's an older unit, but I run the same year Nissan 50 with no issues. I changed the spark plugs and air filter. Like I say....no smoke, no oil smell....just rich propane smell.
Any ideas where I can troubleshoot? Does the carb need adjusting? And how. Pre computer and pre emissions from what I can tell. If I can't clean it up I won't be able to use. Getting complaints!
Thank for the help!!
