First: The turtle/ rabbit/switch dosent control the brakes being released, that is done by the proximity switch at the base of the control handle assembly,ANd the FWD/REV rotation of the control ****.
The sequence of operation is: turn the truck on move the control handle down to activate the proximity switch, this sends a signal to the ZAPI controller!then when you rotate the FWD/REV **** it sends a signal to the control card in the top of the handle which in turn sends a signal to the ZAPI controller to let it know what direction you want to go.
If you try and rotate the **** before the handle is down, this won't let the truck move(if it's operating (CORRECTLY) If you have no rabbit function at all then there is a issue with either the switch itself or the handle control card.
If the brakes are not releasing then there could be a issue with either the proximity switch, the control handle card, or the brake assembly itself.
The brake assembly should have an air gap of.2-.6 MM (.0078-.024 in.) with the brakes released....the brake release coil resistance should be 27-30 ohms......
There is a red led light that will come on( on the Prox. Switch) when the handle is pulled down and the proximity switch senses it's presence, light will go out when handle is either pulled down past the proximity switch or returned to full upright position....
