Hello all- first time to forum. I'm working on a LPG fueled 7FGU30 Toyota forklift with the ECS engine control system. Unit was running fine, then the ignition coil failed. I replaced the coil- now engine starts then immediateloy stalls. The fuel solnoid only energizes with the starter. If I bypass the wiring harness & give the fuel solnoid direct power, the engine only idles. The local dealer won't give any information on the drive by wire system. Any help will be greatly appreciated

First time on forum probably doing this wrong. I have aToyota 7FGU30 lp forklift. I had a wire touch off behind dash at ignition swith and now haveno power to anything. Is there a main fuse or breaker and if so where or can anyone tell me what possibly blew thx
There is an idle air/fuel mixture screw on the top of the vaporizer. Try adjusting this screw for best idle. Once the engine idles well, turn the screw counter-clockwise until engine just starts to labor, and then turn it clockwise 1/4 turn.
In order to work on this model Toyota, there are several manuals. One for the truck, one for the engine, one for the fuel system, and one for the catalytic convertor system. It keeps things interesting.
Check your ignition system cap rotor distributor etc....
i have a Toyota 7fgu30 its hard to start and doesn't want to ideal right ive replaced the LP converter on it and the fuel injector it doesn't matter if its cold or hot anyone have any ideas this thing is a nightmare
Looking for a wiring diagram for a 7FGU30 truck. Can anyone help with this.
Thanks
FYI:
The 26 pin (L02) and 40 pin (L04 and L05) ECS ECU's on the the Toyota 7FG vehicles are very poorly illustrated in the service manuals. The vehicle wiring diagrams are in the very back of the book under 3-way catalytic Systems but do not provide sufficient data for which to troubleshoot. A very common failure on the control is the 5V regulator which is a very difficult obsolete part to obtain.
Cheers!
Thanks to all for your help. Ploblem was no tach signal coming from distributor. Replaced distributor & all working good.
problem sounds like no rpm signal to ecu under lh step and verify voltage is still present at distributor plug before cranking engine when key is in run position only. verify all fuses are good and please check wires to distributor on engine harness side. With info provided it sounds like even when jumped or by-passed, ecu is still not seeing battery voltage allowing engine to die. Check all harness plugs just inside frame behind lh step sometimes poor connections at these points.
Thanks for the information Mrfixit. Unforunately I have those schematics. I can't seem to find anyone who has the schematics for the ECS system (drive by wire). The local dealer played dumb on what I was asking for until I asked them what they used to diagnose the ECS system. With a straight face- the service manager looked me in the eye & said "Oh- that system- well there's information on it, just not for you." I wanted to strangle that SOB. There's nothing in the 7 series service manual that covers the ECS system, so being frustrated is putting it mildly.
I sent you some info that may help.
I found the relays under the step up panel.- no broken or corroded wires. I found that fuel relay only gets signal while starter cranking. If I bypass relay & hotwire the fuel shut off solonoid- unit only idles & no power to the fuel relay. Does anyone have a wiring schematic of the ECS system?
Check under the left step up panels. There is a relay that feeds the LPG solinoids. I have had some issues with the relay. Also check for green/coroded wire harnnes connections around the fuse box
Checked wiring at distributor- not broken. How do I check to see if tach sensor in distributor is putting out a signal? Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the ECS system? My e-mail is bbforks@hotmail dot com
