Toyota 7Fb Truck - Power Steering Torque Sensor, How to set up?

Hi guys,

Ok so I have a few of these electric toyota 7FB trucks in the fleet, and quite a few have this problem.

Personally I think the way the torque sensor/power steering works is pretty stupid. If the return spring doesn't center the plastic torque sensor properly, the steering runs around with a mind of its own, and the operators keep complaining about it fighting them...

Is there a trick to setting these up?

Do you guys just replace the return spring with a new one?

Do you guys replace the plastic torque sensor?

I think the majority of the problem is with the return spring not being tight enough to return the steering sensor to zero (0) degrees, it tends to hang a tiny bit in one direction and causes all sorts of annoying steering problems.

Is there a way to change some values in the computer configuration to give it more DEAD ZONE? i.e. the torque sensor has to travel further out of its zero (0) degree neutral zone than normal for the power steering to assist in that direction?

Any tips and trick from the experienced toyota techs on how you set up these steering/torque sensors to keep the steering from running around wildly by itself?

Thanks
