Discussion:
toyota 6fgu18 no start when it warm up

I have a toyota 6fgu18 that I been working on. It's LP with impco regulator model J. I already check the regulator and lock off and re kit the carb. I check the distributor, replace the coil and swap the module with another. The truck runs fine when it's cold but shuts off after a few minutes of running and will not start again till the next day. I tried using starter fluid even that it's hard starting. I'm getting spark and fuel, have a compression of 125 all across. I also check the manifold when I remove the carb it looks clean no gunk. The regulator was rebuilt by the customer and the only problem with it is one of the diaphragm was put on wrong and I corrected that already.

The challenge you're going to have is you're the 2nd tech- you now how to fix the original problem & whatever the customer may have done. What was the original symptom? How did you check the regulator & shut off? What type of shut off is on the unit- electric or vacuum? You replaced the coil & module- did they test bad or was it a shot it the dark? The engine in the unit- a 4Y?

Customers love technology- until they have to pay to fix it!
