TOYOTA 6FBRE14 REACH TRUCK DRIVE MOTOR ISSUE

Need assistance from someone. I have purchaed a used Toyota 6FBRE14 Reach Truck (YOM 2003) with 5500 mm 3 stage FFL mast. There is a noise from the steering motor and we tried fixing it but could not succeed. The steering motor gets heated while truck being used and when the truck is used for about 15 minutes we cannot even touch the steer motor as it becomes so hot. There are no issues with brushes of the motor and we cannot identify as to what the actual problem is. We are afraid to use the truck as the issue may lead to a steering motor failure. Could someone assist me in diagnosing and rectifying this issue ?

hello my friend
when assembling the motor was well the position of the magnet armature.
remember if the position not correct the magnet camps, a motor not move free, becouse the moviment is very strong. the magnet camps between the armature and the yoke make a good moviment. the points N,S. in the brackets have a point for correct assembly. the armature is inverse assembly. make an experience. retire the engine of the machine, connect the wire for battery and see the turn the engine, 15 minutes after verifier temperature and the sound.
see the marks in the yoke magnet or coil and brackets. see the wire in the armature isolation, and connection in the commutator, press with pointer, the wire in the commutator

Dear Kevin
We did a detailed inspection and observed what was taking place. We feel the motor is not faulty. The problem occures when when rotating the steering wheel slowly to the left (anti-clockwise direction). What happens is that the steering motor tries to change its direction to opposite on and off creating a noise when steering wheel is truned to anti-clockwise direction. This too happens especially when the steering wheel is truned on a slower speed. If we do it fast then the noise is less. When steering wheel is turned to clockwise then no noise. Gear box has only grease and NOT oil. We do not even feel the resiistance when truning after getting the wheel off the ground. Can all these be due to a faulty sensor / IGBT / controller ? Please assist

Also you mentioned noise coming from the steering motor...is this the motor or maybe something in the gearbox? Is there oil in the gearbox or any binding,jack truck up to get drive wheel off the ground and turn the wheel and see if oyu can feel any resistance or "catching" while turning it

Thank you for the reply. Will check and let you know the exact situation tomorrow morning. There was a small issue with one of the cells having a less than average gravity but battery runs for about 08 hours after a re-charge

What condition is the battery in? if battery is less than adequate will draw more amperage.

HI mate

When you switch the truck on does the steering run constant? Its possible that the steering is running continuously whilst the truck is on hence the overheating. Most electric trucks utilise the power steer on demand and usually time out.
