Discussion:
tire selection

We were told by the manufacture that a smooth tire would be best for warehouse operation. However, I'm concerned that the metal ramp teeth will tear up the tires. I understand that this has occurred at other warehouse operations. The smooth tires on our rental forklift has also ripped as a result of the wheels spinning on the wet ramp. Would we be better off using a tire with a tread as we will have limited operations in the parking lot and usage of a metal ramp?

You might want to consider using a rubber tire with a "Lugged" tread, instead of a "Smooth" tread.

If you need high durability, then you might need a tire that is reinforced with fiberglass and also has a "Lugged" tread.

A smooth tread tire does not work well on wet concrete.
