I have successfully removed the tilt cylinder, replaced all seals and am trying to put it back together. The end of it that screws back on to the shaft has a split in it with a hole for a bolt. I cant for the life of me get this thing to continue to thread on after I have started threading it. It only starts for about a half turn and then comes off. Ive tried tightening the bolt to reduce the diameter to no avail. Any and all opinions and pointers would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks man. Ive tried to do some filing and it improved to where it would turn and stay on but its definitely stripped a little bit. I was actually trying to find the right tap and die but finding the right bolt and nut would probably work just as well. Thanks for the advice and tips
If you can't see which is damaged, the internal or the external threads, try running on a good nut or bolt of the same size. You might get a new nut or bolt to go on and clean up the threads a little.
You probably let the weight of the cylinder torque the end off before the last half turn of thread was cleared. If so you could grind or file off the first turn or so of thread. Look closely and you'll probably see where the thread damage is.
