Nissan 1N1L18Q steering issues

Hi all, after a little help here with 'one of those' jobs!
Got one of the above which starts up fine but with no steering assistance. After a little work with no power steering it throws up the code.. check steer angle sensor, error 470.. of course all is good after the error as it runs the pump continuously..also the dash monitor always still shows the true steering angle. I changed the steer sensor pot but to no avail. What do these machines use as a 'steering request' sensor??

There s a sensor under the wheel drive
If I remember correctly there is a sensor down near the steer motor/pump that senses your request for steering.
