There was a company in Piscataway NJ Iron works Co.) that could cut down / lower mast height, repair channels, I think they have gone out of business. Does anyone know of a company that performs that type of work.

Yea Iron works were in Brooklyn for decades, they moved to Piscataway about 15 years ago now there is a moving company at the address and the phone number is disconnected.
I think the company you were referring to is Iron Works. The did mast modifications, manufactured boat forks etc. They must be gone because I couldn't find anything about them. I thought that they were in Brooklyn.
Would think this would be great fodder for any Philadelphia lawyer should an issue arise down the road. Highly suspect any such modifications and/or repair would not be approved by the OEM or their authorized representative.
Best bet buy a new mast assembly or find a salvaged one off a bone yard unit. In Georgia their is a company called Atlanta Lift Truck Salvage has lots of 'grave yard" units - here is a link atlantaliftruck dot com - replace dot with an. and eliminate spaces.
Do a goggle search maybe their is one closer to your home area.
