Discussion:
Hyster with Kubota engine diagnosis

Hello guys
We have a few Hysters with Kubota engines we have frequent problems with, mainly DPF related issues. What do you use to diagnose them: Hyster derived soft with IFak and adaptor cable or Kubota Diagmaster with Python interface?
Thanks for indication.

Just to update and close this thread : DPF and engine diagnostics for Kubota is part of PCST as confirmed by Brewski. It turned out that I was using older version of PCST where Kubota diagnostics wasn't there yet. After update new functionalities appeared and now all is working as it should.

Regards issue with customer: they employed part time maintenance who overlooks truck state every morning and performs daily maintenance. Problems stopped so far.

The problem you describe is as you stated. The truck must finish the burn cycle. If it does not the alternative is replacing the DPF. This gets expensive. The customer needs to understand that the cycle needs to complete. It is explained in the operators manual, and the owners manual. This is not a MFG. problem. Parking the unit in a safe place and starting a parked regen cycle is there best bet.

The diagnostics is part of PCST. PCST is the Hyster/Yale software package.

Hi guys
Sorry for late reply but I was away yesterday. Regards DPF issues, the main problem relates to customer truck usage pattern and drivers irresponsibility. Trucks are used frequently but for short period of time which doesn't give enough time to complete burnout process. Apart from that drivers simply ignore warnings on display relating to DPF burnout request as they are too busy with multitasking. They cannot leave running truck for burnout process unattended due to safety regulations, but because they paid by completion of orders they don't want to waste their time waiting by the truck until it finishes the process with hope that next shift will be less occupied and completes the task which never happen's. This creates situation where this process is never completed leading to DPF blockage and forced burnout request which can only be initiated by diagnostic software. Those trucks are fairly new with circa 2000 hours so injector issues are less susceptible I would say.

to Brewski: is the Hyster/Yale engine software separate to PC Service Tool? Checked Service Tool today but couldn't find anything related specifically to Kubota engine diagnostics... Maybe software name would help, if you can of course.

what dpf issues are you having ???I had a truck drive me nuts at 8000 hours until I had the injectors tested. 3 out of the 4 were overfueling at mid range engine speed. machine would choke DPF daily but after new injectors it was/and still is trouble free

I have only used the Hyster/ Yale software with the IFAK cable. As a dealer we do not have access to the Kubota software.

Bluetooth is named after the 10th-century Viking king, Harald Bluetooth, who united warring tribes in Denmark and Norway. In 1997, Jim Kardach from Intel gave the name to the technology because of its ability to unite different communication protocols, just as Harald united various tribes.
