Discussion:
How to replace steer tires in older 3-wheel

We have an older Crown SC30 3-wheel, electric, counterbalance forklift and we need to replace the steer tires (the dual tires in the back of the unit, under the battery). Dumb question: how do we access these steer tires? Do we need to remove the battery to get to them? I am really stuck in here.... Thanks.

Thanks. I usually have to jack forklifts only a couple of inches to change a tire. Looks like I have to lift this one almost a foot up to access the tire from underneath. Not a good design...

Jack up the back and put put hardwood blocks to support it. Then pull the axle shaft out and out come the wheels.

Fact of the week
In March 2002, identical twins in Finland died on the same day in similar accidents within hours of each other. A 70-year-old man was killed by a truck while cycling; hours later, his twin brother was killed by a truck on the same road, about a mile away, before the family had been informed of the first accident.
