Unicarriers (& Nissan) M01:
Power steering

When purchased, this lift's power steering worked around 80% (note: all on 80%, all off 20%) of the time, but over the past year it has grown worse to where it no longer works at all. As of now, when you turn the machine on, the PS contactor contacts, but as soon as the steering wheel is turned a few degrees, the contactor disconnects and won't reconnect until the machine is turned off and back on again. Purchased a service manual for the unit and it led me to replace the PS controller with a refurbished unit, however the symptoms remain unchanged. Not sure if the refurbished controller was good to begin with. If anyone has any ideas as to other possible causes/remedies before I purchase another controller, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

well first i would make sure the PS motor is running and providing pressure to the system. Then see if there is a pressure sensor anywhere in the system, at the pump or somewhere in the lines, maybe at the orbital valve? verify the sensor is working.
some systems require pressure to stay running, if the sensor is bad it may think the steering is idle and times out and turns it off.

other things to consider is inputs like seat switch and directional switch or possibly park brake switch input... some systems will not activate unless it has input from either of those sources and if it is loosing that at some point the power steering may turn itself off.

The Michelin Guide with its star rating system originated in France in 1900. The guide was created as a marketing tool to encourage more car travel and consequently increase the demand for tyres. It initially contained maps, tire repair instructions, and lists of restaurants, hotels, and mechanics.
