Discussion:
Clark Equipment/Clark mhc

Hi all

Having now retired, but worked for Clark Equipment Fork trucks Industrial Truck Division in UK northern branch as a service engineer , a good number of years ago, I am now looking for my company Pension from Clark

I am getting misled

Clark Equipment was bought out by Ingersoll Rand, then by Doosan, after searching Doosan company and Ingersoll Rand they have nothing on me

Clark fork trucks division doesn't seem to have been sold to Ingersoll Rand/Doosan empire, but later another South Korean company bought them out, that started out has hat company I believe,

Am I to believe that the company is now known as Clark Material Handling Co, and my pension claim would be with them, but there is no part of that company in the UK, only selling agents

anyone help me out with a contact to the right department of Clark MHC
thanks

@Dave S:
An informative way to learn about Eugene B. Clark and the history of the Clark Equipment Company is the "World of Clark Equipment" video that I uploaded to YouTube a couple of years ago. You can view the video(s) by doing a search in YouTube for "World of Clark Equipment".

I created a memorial to Eugene B. Clark on Find A Grave. You can view the memorial by searching Findagrave for: Eugene B. Clark, death 1942, Illinois, USA.

The Falconer family has nothing to do with Clark Equipment Company. They are my Scottish-American ancestors. I have several photo albums on my Flickr photo site; some concern Clark Equipment Company and its products and others concern my family genealogy work. You can review all of my photostream by searching for "joes_place" in Flickr.

Joe

Dave:
Yes, I am.
I have worked for Clark for almost 45 years and will retire on January 2. For hobbies, I also moderate seven Yahoo group pages concerning different Clark vehicles.

Some history: Clark Equipment Company sold the Industrial Truck Division (ITD) to Terex in 1992. Around the same time, Clark Equipment discontinued their pension plan. Old timers (like myself), who had been vested for many years, would still get their 1/2 pension when they turned 55 or full pension when they reached 65. Younger employees were cashed out. This was in the U.S.; the pension plan might have been different at other Clark plants. In 1995, Ingersoll-Rand (I-R) acquired Clark Equipment in a hostile takeover. I-R kept what they wanted (Bobcat, Club Car and Blaw-Knox) and sold what they did not (Axles and Transmissions went to Dana). Meanwhile, Clark Material Handling (CMHC)(the former ITD of Clark Equipment) took itself private and got away from its unhappy marriage with Terex. In 1998, during the IMF meltdown, CMHC acquired Samsung Lift Truck, its former joint-venture partner in Korea. In 2000, CMHC was forced to declare bankruptcy and in 2003 was acquired by the Young An Hat Company of Korea.
Regarding Clark Equipement's pension plan, it was administered by I-R from 1995 to 2007. In 2007, I-R sold the Bobcat business to Doosan Infracore and included the Clark pension plan responsibility with the deal. In 2008, my monthly checks from the Clark pension plan changed from I-R to Doosan.
Short take: You will need to contact Doosan in the U.S. to get the necessary information to determine your eligibility.
Good luck.

Dave, Recomend that you retasin legal council so that you are covered at every base. I do not believe that anyone is out to defraud you or take anything away but, it is better to have an attorney do the work for you.

Best Wishes
