Phew what a nightmare, its suprising what can go wrong when things get disturbed after performing major repairs, things you don't touch suddenly start to play up ,i hope thats all sorted for you with this truck speak again soon Herald.
hello herald. this machine is sending me round the twist. i let the customer use the truck whilst still smoking a fair bit. and it seemed to clear itself after a days work. yesterday morning it wouldn,t start up first thing. went too it and bled fuel systemto get it going. then after 5mins it conked out on me. bled it again. after a bit of deliberation i put a clear pipe from top of tank to lift pump. tried to bleed again and the **** wouldn,t lift fuel. new lift pump and filter head fitted this morning and it,s going like a train ,so here,s hoping it,s cured. regards kevin
Hi Kevin sorry i didn't get back to you i have been away for a few days, how did you go on did you get the injectors checked?
hello herald. air cleaner is all fine. i,m gonna pull the injectors next week. it seems when the turbo really kicks in that the real smoking starts. i might pull the pump units too , is there anything to watch for i;e shims or special seals to watch for on the pumps. cheers again herald
Hi mate yes it does sound like it is overfueling, this will cause heavy smoke under load,if it was not doing this before it blew then it must be something since,is the air intake as should be and clear?after that it is normally down to injectors and or pump, have the injectors been out when the head was done if so are they seated correctly?worth a look i have seen 2 seal washers fitted before and nozzle not in correct positon and affecting atomisation, due to cost time and effort i would get the injectors checked first.Hope this helps some Herald.
hello herald. thats me finally got h50 engine back in and running.delays at engine refurb place !. runs good but when you rev it up under load it kicks out a lot of black smoke ,like its over fueling. tick over and half revs is fine and fairly clear ,just when you get up to full speed it starts to puff like a chimney. engine refurb place say they never touched the fuel side , they did rehone with new pistons ,head skimmed ,and new turbo. any suggestions. i reckon injectors are done but customer reckons he,s had them tested before it blew up. puzzler
Hi Kevin looks like you went about it the right way what a ball ache, met drivers like that before always checks levels every day on daily check,or at least when seized up.
Good luck putting it all back together.
something like
E1X353B10122 1999 truck
took me a good 10 hours to get the engine out. onsite. mast off,cab off ,hyd and fuel tank out then subframe out too.i think the excessive play on the main bearing has been causing my pipe cracking situation. i reckon the engine has been roasted but driver knows nothing. as per usual
