Discussion:
Electric Vehicle Project

Hi there :)

hoping someone can give me some advice. I recently purchased a 48v ac induction motor and 48v 500a controller, potentiometer, control module, cables and lots of wiring, contactors dc/dc converter etc etc.

im hoping to power a Toyota Starlet, it may have enough power but im not sure it will have enough speed. trying to be part of this "dirt cheap EV" movement and prove that you dont need loads of money to own an EV.

I have a whole load of wiring schematics with abbreviations that Im trying to understand.

Im really keen to work out how this all connects up, the guy that sold it to me wired enough up so that the motor runs with the potentiometer and we can adjust the P1 P2 P3 settings with the control module :D. but id like to understand the wiring better in order to use it to its fullest potential in the EV.

my first question is, Im not sure if I have the Traction motor controller or the lift motor controller, theres also no info on the motor, not sure whether its traction or lift... traction I hope...

Controller label 1: "FZ5124A-Crown AC-3 36-48/600 Flash Ampseal"
controller label 2: "access 2 control module" which seems to conflicts with label 1..!?

also is there any document that explains the abbreviations in the wiring schematics? altho I gather manuals arent free.

just hoping someone would be so kind as to help me find a way to get my head around these schematics so that I can work things out.

I havent got the car yet, but ive found a friendly car removal contact, so hoping its only a matter of time! i will call it the Electric Tic-Tac

Cheers
Stephen

Showing items 1 - 2 of 2 results.
My email is in my profile.

RAS - Raise switch
TLT - Tilt fwd switch
TBS - Tilt back switch
CAN_H - CAN High line, this is how the access units communicate
CAN_L - CAN Low line, paired with CAN_H for comms
BRES - Battery Restraint switch
TLMS - Mmm...possibly Tilt limit switch
SV1 & SV2- Solenoid Valve 1 & 2, electrical/hydraulic proportional valves
K1 & K2 - Relays, probably on the distribution board for the keyswitch startup/latch circuit.

Contactors/coils/solenoids are driven by the controllers so 24v is fine.

I keep editing this as I reread your original post. So this can't be from an SC4000 as that was pure DC. The Sc4500 had dual motor AC drive but still DC lift. I'm trying to get an idea of what you have got as I didn't think the SC range came in a 48v configuration. Its most likely you have an FC4500 setup as that has a large single AC drive motor and Access controllers and is 48v. There should be a rating plate on the motor and part numbers on the controllers? I beleive its a 10KW motor which is going to be an issue.

can someone please help me understand what these abbreviations mean?

on the access 1 CA630 schematic:
RAS
TLT
TBS
CAN_H
CAN_L
BRES
TLMS

and the encircled SV1 SV2 S K1 K2 ?? are they contactors?

I have a 48v controller Access 3 CA402 but all my contactors are 24V ? I thought they would need to be 48V ?

hope you can help

Fact of the week
At the opening ceremony of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932, marching bands were instructed to walk out of step as they crossed the bridge. This unusual directive was given as a precaution due to concerns about the bridge's structural integrity during its early use.
