GEAR LEVER BROKE FROM TRANSMISSION

Hello there, this is my first time on here so i hope i can find someone that can help. I really don't know what the model kind is its an older model with a floor shifter going into the transmission. maybe 90s model. IDK. the shifter has broken off from the transmission and it is in reverse the gear shift lever is just free moving like it was just laying on the floor panel. does anyone know of a tutorial somewhere that i can download and watch to fix this problem... thanks so much for any help.

Thanks for the info edward, yeah thats what it seems like cause you know when you move it from reverse to newtral to foreward you feel it hit these little indents well its not doing that and you can move the lever around in a circle now. thanks again man have a great weekend.

the truck should (must, by law, or it is not considered safe to operate) have a capacity data plate, that will have the model and serial number on it.
some of these have a shift lever that is clamped to a shaft, the shaft runs into the transmission, your shift lever may have just come un-clamped.
