Even the cheap one will erase codes and turn off the check engine light.

The handset/ obd2 will show "no codes" if the code isn't an active code.

What i used to do all day now takes me all day to do.
I bought the one that on sale now at Prin.... Au.. $34.99 a vey simple one that read and erase codes. Don't think need a more expensive one with all the whistles and bells for forklifts anyways.

But since code on my truck is already gone after unplugging battery, cant be 100 % it will clear the code. It did read "no code" when I plugged it to the truck though.

oh yeah jeremy has a good idea
if you look under the cup holder area you'll find a large plug that you can hook up an OBD2 scanner to.
I just didn't think of that being an ex cat tech, we had the diagnozer program which uses thier own designated plug and since i was always looking for that plug the OBD plug never occured to me.

do you have an automotive scanner to clear code? If so you can look at temp sensor under live data, check it cold should be close to ambient temp.

like i said before if the pedal dance does not clear it then you will have to use the computer program. You will not get the lights to stop flashing till you clear the code, or resolve the outstanding issue that may still be present.
You can try replacing the temp sensor, it may be faulty but generally if a code is persistant the component that is failing is the cause or the ecm hardsets the code and the only way to clear it is the PC program.

try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes and see if that clears it.

you can do a search here for 'pedal dance' and that will give you forum results for how to reset the system using the accerator pedal.
But keep in mind if this code is hard set you might need to gain computer access to reset it if pedal dance does not.
