Discussion:
Toyota Mast Nomenclature - stumped

Hey all. I have a Toyota 5FBE13 (11482) and the data plate says I have a FV mast. Looking for a packing kit on the front cylinder. Irmn has dozens of possibilities. Figured out by the truck serial number and year by my Atlas manual. 1996.

So, Irmn breaks down the masts by build date. Not sure if that's the truck build date or mast build date and if there's a way to figure out the mast's. The only stamp I found on it reads: 1H38586.

What can I tell from the info I have? I am 90% sure I do have a 2 stage full free lift (FV) mast (going off memory).

My parts supplier looked up the kit for me and it wasn't correct when I received it. Its wiper seal has an ID of about 2". My cylinder rod's OD is just under 3". The kit I received had a part number ending in U1020. Based on the truck's build date I still have about a half dozen possibilities.

Any help in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.
:)

The stamp on the secondary cylinder is 3824171B. The only thing I could read on the front was 38????70A. The ?'s are the numbers that were shaved off and unreadable.

I did see the 10191-71 on IRMN too. The U1020-71 definitely is the wrong kit. My cylinder had a stamp but it looks like a bad carriage roller in the past wiped it out. My secondary (rear) cylinders have a stamp too. I have that written in my van. I'll go get it later and post it. Thanks for all the help and opinions. Toyota masts are a pain lol.

If that 04652-U1020-71 isn't the right one, it may use a 045652-10191-71.

Trying to figure out what packing kits on Toyota's is a pain. There are no numbers on the cylinders and the mast numbers mean nothing. By your serial number the primary cylinder kit should be 04652-U1020-71 and secondary cylinders kit 04652-U1010-71.

If memory serves me right the cyl #'s are stickers that almost always get ripped off at some time in their life. I've never had good luck pre ordering seals for Toyota's as my local dealer always wants those sticker #'s which are long gone.

Unfortunately, it's my customer's only machine and he doesn't want that sort of downtime. He might not have a choice if I can't figure this out. Also, it'd be nice to know for sure how to look it up.

When i run across these situations, i simply pull the cylinder and take it to a local well stocked hydro shop and let them deal with it. Beats the downtime of waiting on correct parts to arrive and most will match up the seals if you pull it apart and carry the seals with you. Just a thought.
