I have got a nissan with excessive brake pedal travel. Replaced master cylinder but its still the same there doesn't seem to be excessive travel of the cylinder approx 3mm movement on the cylinder. Is this normal and is there any adjustment of the brake cylinder etc. i can't find anything in the service manual. Brakes operate fine but pedal movement seems excessive.

These brakes will need to be back bled and rod set up with slight free travel. Adjusting the park brake cables so that it presses on the pin a little will buy some time. Look in service manual for pin travel tolerances and service brake discs if required. Being a wet set up they should give long service life.
hello leon the 1n1 has always had a fair amount of travel in the brake pedal just a very bad design if the unit pulls up ok it is usually ok the brakes are like a clutch pack arrangement same as an auto trans the plunger piston is very small and does not travel very far.as for the electronics well that's another nightmare

Hello Leon, We had some while ago the same problem. We had to open the brakes and replace springs inside. Take a look at the 2 wheel brake cylinder and see if you release the brake pressure the pin of the wheel brake cylinder is coming out. If it is OK try to adjust the handbrake cables.
