Authorities clamp down on unsafe products at CeMAT

Well done to the German authorities. About time someone scrutinised these Asian imports. Does anyone actually think that all these Asian products, under their various names, actually meet the European noise, emission or safety standard? Can anyone produce data, not certificates, that show these trucks have been tested in Europe with regards to the European directives?

What have BITA being doing with regards to these unsafe products??

Unfortunately the responsibility is on the manufacturer to make sure their machine complies to CE regulations, and so unless a company feels they need to comply they may not bother.

The only way that this can ever be regulated is for a change in European law regarding imports, or that countries go the route of vehicle registration for every unit. Even if the EU regs changed who would enforce it? Vehicle registration would add cost, but as long as the criteria for checking basic conformity were in place it could work.

There is a lack of understanding in China on many aspects of production, and at this moment it is all about price, but the shift will come in time. What is not normal is to send photos to a government department of a product and ask for CE approval, because this is just not the way it is meant to work and how do they know the torso clearance height, vibration or noise levels from a picture?

China needs to have a better control on all of its industries full stop.
