Discussion:
Union Steward

Our road service union steward is retiring at the end of the year and he asked me if I want to do the job as I am the only road service guy that attends the meeting on a bi-monthly basis. My only problem is the last time we negotiated out contract I saw the true colors of my fellow road service guys, and they are all talk, no action and really are a bunch of spinless group of guys how said some nasty things towards the union representatives. These guys attend no meeting and try to say they do but I never see them there. Would you guys take the thankless job of a union steward with a group of guys who dont give a hoot about nothing? I am 100% for unions but dont want the headaches of representing these back stabbing individuals.

Thought about this today while on the job and I have come to the conclusion of why hang myself out there for others who could care less. Like posted about I am just gonna do my job, keep my nose clean and enjoy family & life.

Unless you truly believe you could make a difference and handle the unforeseen issues that will arise - don't jump in the fire, do your job well, keep your nose clean, relax, enjoy family & life.

"Have An Exceptional Day!"
Reminds me of the lyrics from the late Gerry Raferty

"Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you."

I always respect Edward T's opinion

But really ask yourself Why Bother.

sometimes, in our line of work, the question might be better phrased as "could anyone else do the job better?"
