Toyota 7FGU25 Serial Number 78541 hours 3914

The unit will not shut off after running and reaching normal operating temp. Lift runs fine and will cut off when cold. We have competed a tune up and timing adjustment with no change. With the low hours it is hard to believe that it could be internal in the engine. The ignition switch is working properly also. Anyone have an idea or can point me in the right direction. Thanks.

i think it's dieseling, high cylinder temp and excessive fuel after shut down. if its actually RUNNING without any kind of energy for the ignition system quit trying to fix it and call NASA.

Let me get this straight. You unplug the distributor from the wiring harness and this truck still runs?

there is a little solenoid near the top of the carb. make sure it's not stuck and it isnt getting power with key off. if all is good there pull the top off of the carb and adjust the float. timing also makes a giant difference but my guess is the idle circuit solenoid is stuck

This is a gas unit. With the ignition switch off there is no spark at the plugs. With everything electrical connector going to the carb unplugged it still runs. Only if we remove the air intake at the carb will it shut off without any problems. Any additional help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

The first thing you need to do is get out your multimeter. If the ignition/fuelock system is still getting power with the key removed it should take only a few minutes to see where it's coming from.

Are the plugs still sparking with the key off? I guess you could unplug the distributor black/red wire and see if that shuts it off. If it doesn't then it must be so hot it's preigniting.
