serial port communication on linde 39x

I am trying to interface my laptop with Linde 39x serial interface. My laptop does not have Serial port and I have purchased an USB to serial port adaptor to get a serial port on my laptop but the forklifter interface does not see this serial port.

What should I do? Any help is highly appreciated.
