We're currently working on a safety upgrade project in our water bottling facility in Morocco. The goal is to equip 52 forklifts with front and rear cameras, ideally including video recording and collision/pedestrian detection features.
The forklift models in question are:
Toyota 8FD25 (diesel)
Toyota 8FBN25 (electric)
Before moving forward, I'd like to hear from those with experience in similar setups:
What are the key technical considerations when installing such camera systems on these types of forklifts?
Some specific questions:
Wired vs wireless cameras - what's more reliable in forklift environments?
How to properly route power and video cables, especially on the mast?
Are there any compatibility concerns specific to Toyota 8FD/8FBN models?
How do you maintain clear camera visibility (dust, vibration, water, etc.)?
Best practices for powering the system (12V/24V from forklift, separate battery, etc.)?
Are there interference or durability issues in long-shift 5 (3 shifts), heavy-duty operations?
We're considering both commercial kits and custom solutions, priority is safety, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
If anyone has experience, tips, or product recommendations - I'd really appreciate your input!
Thanks in advance
