Need help 1987 TCM FCG20N6

Hi guys I have a 1987 TCM FCG20N6.I was replacing the battery & accidently connected it backwards. After just having a new starter put in. Soon as I connected I noticed smoke coming from the starter area.I disconnected it right away about 5 seconds. Then reconnected the battery correctly. But am getting no gauges or horn or no crank happening. Is there a main fuse to check? Or did I most likely fry the starter? If I did fry the starter would that stop other electrical items from working like the horn gauges etc?

I would check by the battery or starter on the positive side you probably burned what's called fuseable link it is a small wire that will break inside before you burn the wiring to the truck. When this happens you will get no power at all to the truck.

On some trucks not 100% sure with TCM there are small wires to the positive battery terminal with spade conections, this is fuse wire.
