Discussion:
Sideshift/tilt/reach operations not working when fully lowered

The sideshift, tilt and reach functions will not operate until the forks are about 6 inches above the ground. I can hear the pump when trying to operate with the forks fully down but get no movement (other than up and down).

When forks are in the air everything works well, so I'm assuming it is not the overmast electrical cable?

I have those bolts loose but haven't removed the plate yet - I'll work on that this weekend and let you know what I find.

If I do need a new cable, where is the best place to find that? I'm sure the Raymond part would be wicked expensive....

The lift is on a completely different circuit. All the other functions are on the overpulley circuit... I think it s a 6 wire if I remember right. Almost always when those functions stop working, it's the overpulley cable...one other thing to check it to remove the plate where the (2 bolts) are and check the solenoids (again going off memory). Make sure the back nut didn't come loose and the solenoid Isn't sliding on the plunger...so make sure none of your terminals came off the solenoid. But I'd be willing to bet 100-1 it's the overpulley cables

I would have thought so too but since the pump is still activating (even without movement I can hear the pump whine like normal when I try to tilt or reach or side-shift) I am wondering if there is some type of a switch that is locking out those movements? Just allowing the up and down movement but nothing else?

From my history, it is the overpulley cable causing it.

Fact of the week
In March 2002, identical twins in Finland died on the same day in similar accidents within hours of each other. A 70-year-old man was killed by a truck while cycling; hours later, his twin brother was killed by a truck on the same road, about a mile away, before the family had been informed of the first accident.
