It seems to be a fairly common issue on the ft range if the truck is left outside in the rain, water gets on the switches and shorts them, a work around that usually works is turn on the truck press the dash up button (bottom right) for 10 to 30 seconds until you get a release up button warning release it then your truck should start. Ultimately you need a new dash

I suspect the truck is going to just need a software update. I'm a Hyster/Yale Service Manager, but I've not heard of this issue before. I will update this thread if I can find more information on it.

It seems to only happen after lifttruck sits for awhile. But when you go to start it , it won't crank over. And when you release the key to the wrong position. It says release washer button. Then if you wait while leaving the key on the LCD screen switches to temp and then you can crank it over and start it. The waiting time varies as little as 20 seconds or as long as a couple minutes. but it will not crank as long as it says release washer button. I have looked for loose connections, wiggled wires, and tapped on ECM. It seems to have a mind of its own.

I have gone through the manufactures diagnostics pages and the service alerts. I'm not see anything regarding that message. Do you have any additional info?
