Bad encoder on the drive motor if it is spinning the right speed. Most of the time it's the motor itself that needs replacing. The motors encoder is not reading right ( low RPM) or is reading right if the lift motor barely moves, so the controller is putting more voltage to it thus the higher amps. The RH motor can be changed without removing the mast unless you have a quad mast then it must come off.

I have the same code and am wondering if there is a definitive test to determine if its the drive motor or the drive unit.... going through analyzer I read the ECR1 as 3558 RPM ECR2 as 265 RPM, and M1 amps are 44, and M2 amps are 334 after 10 seconds of run time with (wheels off ground and steer wheels straight).

Hey JCM1!

Thanks so much for that info - it definitely helped, and was able to have the code disappear and then proceeded to recalibrate the handle successfully. The interesting thing is now the unit doesn't really move forward or backwards at all.. almost as if it's not getting enough juice, but checking with my voltameter it is showing consistently ~37.. I have the service guy coming in the A.M. but was hoping that I was able to figure it out myself.
If you have any other suggestions, shoot! If not, it's ok - I appreciate your help thus far and will give an update once all is well!

Cheers!

I have gotten this code before when the drive unit is going bad and beginning to slip. In the features menu check F 27 and set to disable and see if the code goes away. That detects slip between the drives. I've usually had to replace the sub-assembly after this code pops up. Good luck
