Discussion:
Clearing codes on Nissan MCUGL02F3LV

Had a hard code E27 on this ECM controlled Nissan. It`s a crankshaft positon sensor code, but sets with bad coil or plugs. Customer has replaced a coil and plugs...truck runs ok but the code is `latched`on. Unhookng battery will not clear the code. Nissan tech says you need a laptop to clear it. Is this correct?

Ray you can simply ignore the code if code goes away when started and hours show. If the lights are flashing then you have an active code. The code will eventually go away if it isn't active. It will take about 50 start/ run cycles.

What i used to do all day now takes me all day to do.
yeah the pedal dance can be a bit tedious
i have been doing this on the mcfa systems since they came out and even after years of doing it i always have a hard time getting in on the first try. If i do i feel lucky , I usually whoop out the laptop to save time :o)

well maybe that's why it didn't work. Will try again tomorrow. Waited one second between pedal pumps. OBD2 scan tool was not recognized and no data could be displayed.

whispers ever so slightly one tidbit of info jeremy forgot to tell you
when you press the pedal the 5 times it has to be done within a 5 second range, take longer and it will not take

just some random information that might be helpful before you go spendin money on dat nasty ole nissan tech's breakfast ;o)

"it's not rocket surgery"
by the way warm the engine and use a stop watch or cell phone for ease and accuracy as times are critical.

No way Jose! you just made my day!
I'm gonna try it tomorrow morning first thing. If it works, i`ll never trust that dog gone Nissan tech again!
If it don't..... i`ll have to buy him breakfast and ask him to clear it with his laptop.
And sorry for that cold air we sent your way from Canada, i better stock up on Oranges...

You can use the accelerator pedal
key on wait 3 seconds (critical)
tap pedal 5 times 1 second intervals
wait 7 seconds (critical)
hold down pedal steady until code and hour meter alternate
lift pedal
hold down pedal until only hour meter flashes
turn off key

Or you can use an obd 2 code reader or scan tool, there is an obd 2 plug under cup holder taped to the harness, you may have to remove side cover for easier access, clear as you would any car.
