Discussion:
UK-Whos next?

Its all getting extremely gloomy in our market place and I'm wondering whos next with the jobs axe. Pretty much all the big players seem to be shedding staff, wheres it all going to end?

The economic situation is unprecidented. Any manufacturer heavily geared with a bank is going to be hard hit.

Your wright but Linde, Toyota, and Hyster are to big to fail. So they will still be about in five years time.
May be smaller manufactures might go but as for barlow they will be safe. Most prob will be Cat who
don't manufacture any more and are damaging Mitsubishiwith the same trucks My bet is some like the
middle range dealers Impacked rushlift or forkway. Briggs are big in USA with Yale so there's always
that to look at

That is of course assuming the big manufacturers can bale out the large dealers. I suspect that the manufacturers are in just as much trouble as the dealers. Factory's can close and famous names can disappear. These are unprecedented times and unless those in charge have been very very wise over the last 5 years, i suspect no one is safe.

It won't be a manufacture an indepent dealer will go but not
barlow most people think Briggs. But their are others Rushlift,
Impact, Forkway, Big manufactures won't let their main sales
and service work go. Cat might not be interested in saving Briggs
But Hyster will save Barlow if they have to.

It will probably end with a big firm going to the wall, and freeing up some space for the rest. Any bets on which one?
