Hey guys I'm having a couple issues with this same unit. My serial # A801N06673U. My machine has no travel and no steering but it does go up and down. A couple things I noticed when I turn on the key switch the power contactor kicks on but the electric brake kicks on for one second and then kicks off. I have checked all the fuses. I do not have a manual for the truck. I would appreciate any help that will help me troubleshoot this machine. Thanks in advance Rick

Steer tach is behind the steering wheel. Steer pot is down by the motor and controls. ECM is by the steering motor. All your test taps are by or on the controller.

Check the following.

Open circuit in between tach and ECM or between feedback pot and ECM

Defective tach

No output from ECM to steer motor

Feedback pot defect

Check tach input. Test voltage between K1-4 and TP3 when tach is spun. Test voltage between K1-6 and TP3 when tach is spun. If voltage present then bad ECM.

Master drive unit out of range. Jack up truck and turn drive unit back into range.

Defective steer motor

You need to calibrate the steer center setting to stop it from drifting off center providing the tach generator is not generating noise in the left turn circuit causing it to drift.
There is a calibration routine in the steering section of the manual for this and other steering functions.
One other thing you may want to check is the hour meter display on the BDI meter and see if it is displaying any codes when it is driving in slow mode.

check the pot and make sure it reads good, no hot spots in the readings, any glitch can trigger a fault.
also check real close the helical connector that connects the pot to the steering gear (if it is older style), they have been known to break , if newer style then the pot inserts directly into the gear, make sure the set screws are tight.

once you confirm the above conditions are satisfactory then run the steering calibration test in the information kevin sent you.

have fun ;o)
