Discussion:
Starter Ground Burning

I left work order in car, don't have serial atm for machine, old started wouldn't engage with flywheel, changed starter, no ground wire from starter to other side under the mast controls looks like bolted onto engine, half way through wire, it's open under some heatshrink and glued to other wires, can i just replace ground wire, or does this have to be connected back to these other wires, no diagrams available to see where it goes.

Any help is appreciated.

Connect a voltmeter to the solenoid terminal( pos. lead). Connect the negative lead to the starter body. Try to start the truck. Are you getting any voltage?

If II remember correctly there is a ground wire on the alternator. Usually the run through the loom to a ground terminal.

Any idea, only 3rd yale/hyster i've really worked on,

That should work as long as the block is grounded to the battery.

Just extend the added wires and ground with the new ground cable.
