Discussion:
Safety Products. Where to go.

As a supplier of safety products we have found that new legislation has resulted in end users having to outsource equipment they have never needed to outsource before. The classic example being the "retract Seatbelt." The average maintenance engineer not knowing where to go generally speaking would go to his local OEM, costing him far more than it would necessarily need to.
What we have done is approach the various inspection bodies in the UK, made them aware that alot of this equipment can be fitted by the site engineers, knowing full well that many companies delay on implementing new safety procedures/products because of the cost.
The inspection bodies now notify the end users of the companies who can supply the products direct, hopefully ensuring compliance as soon as possible with the least expense.
This has worked extremely well in the UK and I would advise any end user to ask when having an inspection of help and advice of where to purchase new equipment.
