Safe hoist drift

I am hoping to find some documentation as for the maximum hoist drift allowed. All I can find is that an "excessive amount is not allowed". I know what I been going by for years but would like to confirm it.

The rule i was taught 1 pick up a thousand pounds to max height. no more drift than 1" in 10 minutes.
