So I installed some wheel cylinder on a yale got called out today about forward and reverse delays right after using the inching pedal. Found a piece of wood smashed by the brake spring. My question is does that spring supposed to bring the pedal back up or just hold it there ? I also think maybe I should have adjusted the master shaft that attaches to the pedal?

I have a picture but cant upload for some reason

Fact of the week
Foundling hatches are safe, anonymous drop-off points for unwanted infants, allowing parents in crisis a way to surrender a baby safely without fear of punishment, ensuring the child is rescued and cared for. The concept started in the 12th century, was abandoned in the late 19th century, then reintroduced in 1952. It has since been adopted in many countries.
