Hi all i have a clark tmg that has been a thorn in my side for the last 8 months.

i'll start from the begining.road tech went out to see the truck, right side motor burnt not working.

bring it to the shop, remove both motors and send them out to get built..........4 attempts later by the motor builders they get it right (everything from defective bearings,to bad brushes, to bad fans etc,etc.)

both motors installed in the truck,test it and about 30 minutes later the slave controller craps out.---install and program new slave.

test it again and the motor starts smoking, suspect the brake is dragging, swap out the complete caliper from a known good truck with new pads,rotors,and park brake pin. adjusted up and bled.

motor still getting hot. found armature wires from controller to motor the ends are burnt. replace all 8 wires (for both motors)

test again, still getting hot, found steering pot out of adjustment, orderd new pot, with updated "stiffening bracket" installed and adjusted.

more fideling with controller settings,brakes, test battery,wires,motor temp sensor,check differentials, all come up good.

motor starts to "click" when used, send it out a 4th time comes back and all seems fixed, chalk it up to crappy motor builds,send it back to the customer and the truck is gone for about 6-7 months.

came back last week with teh same issue, right side motor burnt up!!!


no codes no issues. asked when this started, what i was told was when the truck was in the shop the first time,they started using there other truck more, and the opperator just kept usinbg the other truck untill they damaged a fender and had to put it out of service. when they put this clark back into service it lasted about 1 month with 4-6 hours a day of use.

i droped the motors off at our other rebuilders and the guy in the back seems to recall a wiring issue with the clarks back in the day, something with the controllers.

he said he sees this all the time with the clarks and it always goes back to the controllers.
