Purchased 2 heli pneumatic 5000# capacity forklifts from a customer about two months ago. Both these units had transmission problems. Picked them up on a good deal and tore the transmissions down to inspect and rebuild. We found both idler shafts sheared off. The shafts were a smaller diameter than I have ever seen inside of a single speed transmission. We also noticed that both the forward and reverse clutch packs were complexly worn out with only two fibers remaining in each pack. We ordered the parts, and were told 2 weeks of back order. That 2 weeks turned into 7 weeks, and to top it off when we finally received the parts, the torque converter / stator support bushing and the transmission pump support bushings were wrong. After a discussion with the parts guys at the dealer we used, we found out that heli is producing the bushings with the correct part number but with the wrong dimensions. We ended up using the lathe to machine the bushings to the appropriate diameter and literally just today finished the second unit. From my experience in dealing with both heli and tailift ( Have been a tailift dealer since 1998 ) the heli does not have the parts support of a tailift. Take it from me, you don't want to go thru this with these transmissions if you don't need to. Don't get me wrong either we have had our fair share of tailift support problems over the years, but never have we been told that the parts are wrong and the problem is yours to figure out, like heli did.
