Good questions from bbforks.

Our technicians keep their vans at home, but they operate from there. They are oblidged to visit the office only once a week.
All the "paperwork" (service protocoles, parts orders, etc) is done online. The customer is charged for the travel from the technician location. The parts are delivered to techician location overnight.
Our technicians are 20 to 150 km from our main office.

Basing upon my experience, bringing the technician everyday to the office for the van is a big waste of his time. My observations from the companies, which have this policy shows, that even when the technician comes to the office at the beginning of the day, he leaves to the first customer hour or more later.
