yes it could be a problem with a card.
with the battery disconnected, find plug on the system card marked JPS7, it should be an 18 pin connector that plugs directly into the system card (motherboard in control panel) check for resistance using pin 12 and pin 18. with the sensor plugged into the harness and the truck at room temperature you should read around 850 - 2000 ohms. if open circuit is found, check for resistance using the above pins to the sensor plug and correct any resistive wiring found.
if above is all ok. unplug sensor from harness. connect battery and turn truck on. use JPS7 again. have your meter leads back probing the plug. check for voltage at jps7-12 (b-) and jps7-18 (b+) should be 5 volts. if not the system card is at fault. if you do have 5 volts, your vfc card is bad (rectangle card screwed to the system card)
