The sensor you write about is on bottom of lift spool valve Inline with the spool its the lift and lower switch, next to it on the bottom of the lift/lower spool is the lift lock valve(solenoid). If your unplugging the switch and its woking you may have a problem with that switch internally maybe filled with oil. Always hated when they mounted switches under spool valves.
