hi, try adjusting the governor. if you remove the cover and look at the spring arrangement you can see how it works. you want to increase spring tension enough so it will hold the throttle plate steady at the rpm you want, about 2600rpm, and drop it to about 2400 under hydraulic load (deadhead the hydraulics in lift or tilt to load the engine at WOT)
