Hi Simon,

R70 type 7039 has no starter motor, the generator is used to start engine. The direction lever must be the centre position, the neutral light must come on before you attempt to start the engine.
The batteries must be in good order, check them both.
Just for a quick test, remove the round monitoring plugs from drive motor and generator and try to start the engine. BUT do attempt to drive machine - make sure the handbrake is applied!!

Good luck
J
