From your description it sounds like FU3 is blowing, this protects the display module from high amperage. It sounds like there is a short in that module causing the fuse to blow. If it only blows when the key is turned to the start position it is highly likely that is your lissue. That doesn't surprise me as the charger was plugged into the truck instead of the battery, typically, especially if the key was left in the on position, a module will short out internally due to the high amperage.
